The Federal Skilled Worker Program is managed through the Express Entry system. Canada also has a number of Provincial Nominee Programs that allow the provinces to nominate individuals for Canadian permanent residence.

The Canada Express Entry Process started on January 1, 2015. It is a new process for Canada Permanent Residency Visa. The Express Entry system is an electronic system that manages applications for three Canada permanent residency programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

In the Express Entry pool are ranked according to their CRS scores and then entered into a random selection process where a certain number of candidates are invited to apply for Canada permanent residency under Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program Canada.

The basic requirements to apply for Canada permanent residency are that you must have:

  • A valid passport
  • Age
  • Qualification
  • Work Experience- Need to be NOC list of Canada
  • English Language Proficiency – IELTS- Can not be more than two years old

  • Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and your family while in Canada. You may also need to provide other documents depending on the type of visa you are applying for

Canada Express Entry uses a point system to determine who can apply for Canada permanent residency. Requirements for obtaining points are based on factors such as age, language proficiency, work experience, education, and adaptability.

TIP: There is no official minimum required CRS score to immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry pool. For recent draws, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for a candidate to receive an Invitation to Apply has been around 450 points.

The Canada Provincial Nominee Program is a fast-track way of immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker. In some cases, it can be faster than applying through Express Entry. In order to participate in the Provincial Nominee Program, you must first create an Express Entry profile.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool may be selected to apply for Canadian permanent residency if they meet the following criteria:

  • 1. They have been accepted into the Express Entry pool
  • 2. They have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
  • 3. They have been nominated by a province or territory.

The process to get a Permanent Residency Visa in Canada depends on which program you apply through:

If you apply through the Express Entry system, you must first complete an online Express Entry profile. Your profile will be screened to see if you meet the basic requirements for one of the three Canada permanent residency programs.

Nominee Program, you must first nominate an eligible province or territory in your Express Entry profile. You can then apply for Canada permanent residency through the Provincial Nominee Program of that particular province or territory.
